Rattle And Hum Part 666..

I rarely prefer U2 but in this case I would. Absolutely having my ass handed to me by this preamp build. I can knock down hum but not elimate it. Since my speakers are highly efficient 107db and 110db horns that won’t cut it. This thing must be silent. I’ve done amp rebuilds and scratch builds but this is my first preamp. A 112A preamp with Rod Coleman Regulators and full of Intact audio iron.

The good news is I’ve learned how to do signal to noise ratios. I’ve setup my computer via a Focusrite to troubleshoot. The little fnirsi scope has been excellent and punches above its weight.

I’ve tried magic crystals, sacrifices, weird shielding, and I’ve done the macarana but to no avail.

My friends that know better asked why I didn’t build a protoype…. Whats that? Next step I am going to tear it down and start from scratch. If something doesn’t break this week I’m going to start a dual chassis design and yes a protoype…
