1946 PWK AMP - Intact Audio - P1

This will be a long-running thread. We are recreating a PWK amplifier from 1946. This was a push-pull 6A5G 5 watt mono amplifier. The exciting thing is this amplifier had an electronic crossover builtin for the first Klipschorn. We really needed help on this crossover. I sent the documentation we had to Dave Slagle of Intact Audio and EMIA. It didn’t take Dave Slagle long to figure it all out and soon after I received a box of custom wound parts.

This amplifier was used on Klipschorn #1. It had a Jensen A12PM as the woofer. The mid driver was the legendary Western Electric 555. This combination was used to celebrate the end of WWII at a party in Hope, AR at the proving grounds hanger. This will likely be an event we recreate for a fundraiser for the Klipsch Museum.

Pics are of the beginning. The chassis will be 17x14x4 and will slide into one of these vintage chassis cases. I’m going to use Front Panel Express for the front panel and top plate. Will post progress as we move along.

Thanks again Dave Slagle without your expertise this project for the Klipsch Museum would not be possible.
