45 145 245 345 445 Tubes

My friend the TubeHoarder found a big box of 45 tubes for me to try in my amp. Not sure of the condition but I don't often get to roll through a dozen gobes and then a dozen coke bottles.

Engraved base de Forest Audio 445... Beautiful.

Engraved base Arcturus Power Amplifier 145.

 Engraved base Cunningham CX 345.
A good pic on this one.

 Engraved base ECHOTRON. Great name.
It is strange that the filament is resting on the grid in this one.

It was really difficult to get a pic of the Majestic engraved base.

Haven't found any info on this engraved base Marvin MX 245.

Another Engraved Base RCA Radiotron 45

Another RCA Radiotron UX 245 Engraved Base

National Union Coke Bottles with engraved  base. Very cool.

Out of the engraved bases now. Here is a selection of RCA coke bottle 45s.

Do vintage tubes sound better than modern? I don't know for sure.
Which do you prefer?
I get a kick out of running antique tubes. There is something special about listening to music through  old triodes. Listening to history. It doesn't hurt that the tubes look beautiful as well.
