I was doing my normal horn porn research when I found this website by Inlow Sound. They are making paper mache horns. They show you how to make your own. Very cool DIY stuff.
Explore the Inlow Sound website if you are into DIY horns. Very interesting work and projects. http://www.inlowsound.com/.

Swing In High Stereo

I love these old LP covers featuring for no apparent reason hifi gear. Can't say I'm familiar with Ted Heath but I'd buy it for the 604's on the cover. I'm really craving some 604's...hint hint... :)

Bozak Best For Built-In Systems

Here is another scan from Audio Magazine 1960. Great Bozak ad from 1960. I wonder how long Bozak was in business.

Vinyl Horns

Some sick bastard decided it was a good idea to turn vinyl into a horn shaped device. Hmm ok not a terrible idea. I can think of some vinyl I own that the world would definitely not miss nor would I feel bad about melting down. They are also doing this at a live event so check it out here http://www.fastcodesign.com/1664791/exhibit-bends-your-vinyl-records-into-speaker-cones.

1930's Working Field Coil Lansing Iconic

This is an incredible example of the iconic. Check it out. It is close to the top of my dream speaker list.

Very cool video and check out the RCA to the side. Not sure how accurate the iphone spl meter is but it seems loud enough.

I don't often post ebay auctions but this is exceptional. Click here

RCA 515S2 Data Sheets 1950

Thank you Gilmore in Colorado for sending me the original data sheets. Too cool.

I promise only one more 515S2 post in the next month and that will be all the material I have on them. I would like to compare the cabinet in these documents to the Klipsch rebel styke corner cabinet mine came with. Should I replace the capacitor on these old speakers?

1950's Norelco Speaker Ads

I did not know that Norelco speakers were made by Phillips until just now. That is really cool. I'll have to keep a look out for Norelco speakers now as well

RCA DuoCone 515S2 DIY Klipsch Rebel Cabinet

I am surprised it took me so long to get to hear these speakers. This is my setup for their trial run. Two RCA 515S2 drivers one I repaired and the other I bought from Terrence in St.Louis. The one from St.Louis is in a really well made Klipsch Rebel cabinet. Associated gear is as follows. The preamp or autoformer volume control is from Dave Slagle at http://www.intactaudio.com/. If you haven't tried an autoformer volume control you owe it to yourself to do so. You will not regret it. The Luxmann KMQ60 is from my friend Terry and it is a great piece featuring the rare NEC 50CA10 power tubes. Source was my laptop. Measurements were taken using truerta via an ecm8000 mic. DISCLAIMER these are amateur measurements taken at 3ft just to get me in the ballpark. If you see something wrong or have advice please share.
RCA 515S2 in Klipsch Rebel cabinet. It does have some improved bass from the cabinet.

Same as above just looks different.

This is the RCA515S2 on the floor in front of the cabinet. It seems my repair was ok and not detrimental to the cabinet. That is really cool. Holy Cow I fixed something and it works afterwards.
Pink Noise. Peek Hold. 3ft. Not smoothed.
Ah what the hell this is with both woofers playing. Pretty much the same.
Pink Noise. Peek Hold. 3ft. Not smoothed.
I like how these sound. I'm surprised I have such a favorable impression given that the high end takes a dive around 10k. They have a really nice feel to them. More listening this week.

I'm wondering what to do with them? Add a tweeter? Should I build another Rebel cabinet or build one of Olson's old corner speaker cabinets. It may be interesting to make an old school console. What do you think? Any advice much appreciated

I was just looking at an ad for the 515S2 and it is advertised at 40-12,000. Also I look at the LC1A and they measure very closely. Interesting.

Wharfedale Fullrange Ad

I've only heard a vintage Wharfedale speaker system once and it was pretty good. They are pretty rare in this part of the country though.
