Electro Voice Patrcian 800

EV built some massive speakers back in the glory days of HiFi. The Patrician 800 had a reported range of 15-23000. That is a rare feat even today. Not sure what the - or + db was on that but wow. This also used that giant 30 inch woofer. Would love to hear a pair of these. I would be interested to hear how they sound with all those crossover points.

Here is some technical data.

Over 42 inches high.

Here are some great details on the 800 from http://www.novacon.com.br/audiopat8001.htm.

Have to hear these some day.

Electro Voice Patrician II 1983

I was doing more EV Patrician research and found mention of a Patrician II build in 1983. It took a little while but thanks to the vintage knob I found some information. It is a very interesting beastie. It was marketed towards the Japanese Jazz Clubs and Hi-Fi guys. The 1983 Patrician II was to mark the Electro Voice 30th anniversary. It was made in Switzerland. Here is the brochure.

The test data.

Some detailed pics.

It looks very interesting in an ugly duckling sort of way. The cabinet is massive. Would love to hear this one.

Audio Engineering Cover EV Patrician May 1951

Hubba hubba look at the size of those horns. I've seen a Patrician in person but had no idea what was behind the screen. I bet it was an amzing mono system.
