Discussion Of Japanese Jazz Joints

Album co-compiler (with Mike Peden) Tony Higgins and Tokyo Jazz Joints photographer Philip Arneill talk about Japan's fast-disappearing 'jazz kissaten' (jazz cafes). "J Jazz – Deep Modern Jazz from Japan 1969-1984" is now available on vinyl, CD and digital formats, featuring cover photographs by Phillip Arneill. Jazz Kissa

Jazz Kissa is my favorite Instagram. If there was a heaven for me this would be it. Here is some eye candy from the Jazz Kissa instagram account. A Jazz Kissa is a coffee shop / tea  / bar with a high end audio system for the enjoyment of music.

1952 1953 Sun Radio

A glimpse into the glory days of Hi-Fi. I can only imagine what their showroom must have been like. They are all here from Quad to Stephens. I could order from this catalog and be happy today. Now I need to find some pictures of their showroom...

Update On EMIA - Jeffrey Jackson / Dave Slagle

I noticed the EMIA site was updated recently. EMIA is the collaboration of Experience Music and Intact Audio or Jeffrey Jackson and Dave Slagle. They are my favorite audio designers and just happen to be dam good people. If it wasn't for their encouragement I never would have gone down the path of DIY audio.. So I can at least blame them for that.... I've been lucky enough to hear their systems a few times and even though it has been a while those experiences have stuck with me. It isn't just the sound impression which is always hard for me to english but their deisgn asthetic is a perfect blend of high end modern craft with the old school audio masters casting an influence over everything.
