  1. This ad dates to the lifetime of your Girl Friday (circa 5 August '62: I'm guessing '58 through '61) because there is no zip code, for one thing.

    Figure that $4975 would buy a new Corvette and $12,000 a new four seat single engine aircraft in that time frame for a relative cost in today's prices.

    Also consider that Gotham Audio, the sole proprietorship of one Stephen Temmer, was probably one of the most obnoxious and difficult people in the history of the recording business. One reason German companies like Neumann stayed out of the domestic hi-fi business entirely was that Temmer had them contractually locked up in the United States and basically charged a fifty percent premium on everything he imported.
