Check out the Cellular Grand by Racon Electric. This is really cool and dates to the late 40's. I've never seen any Racon gear in person. The horn is interesting it reminds me a little of an Emilar horn.
If this was in a Godzilla film it would be MonstroTriode or TriodeZilla.
Very rugged and amazing construction.
To be honest I'm not exactly sure what we will do with these but they are from my friends Chris's collection. He has had an idea in his head for these for many years. Going to be an interesting and fun adventure. I'm definitely over my head here so it is a good thing I'll have professional help.
Here is some tube porn for the evening. My friend Chris dropped this 1938 RCA manual by today. It is amazing and the tube diagrams are beautiful. It is a little fragile so I didn't flatten the pages to get the images.
Some heavies. On the left we have the Kenyon that can do 1480 or 1180. On the right the Thoradson whis is 1300 at 350ma. The choke up front is a 10hy and the heavy in the back is a dual 5hy. Almost enough here for a power supply for something....
“I like big horns and I cannot lie, those little horns make me cry” Tom Danley "Simple. A horn is just a reasonably rigid boundary for an air column. Now all you have to do is figure what shape to make it." PWK
