Very Early Pro Sound - Field Coils with Horns and Triodes 245 250

This is one of my favorite early ads because it has it all like field coils, horns, triodes in the flavor of 250 and 245.

$20 in 1930 equals about $275 today.
Nice selection of field coils from the early guys Jensen and Utah.
I want everything I build to look like these early pro amps.

Klipsch KPT-1802-HLS Horn Subwoofer

For a sense of scale here is Kevin Harmond with the Klipsch HLS. That is a good size for a horn loaded sub. It would be a blast to put all manner of larger horns on top of this perhaps a Jubilee and some tractrix horns. That would only be about 15ft high lol.
Nice of them add a cherry beauty panel.
This guys room has to be huge.

Top notch construction hand made in Hope, AR USA.

 "commanding 20hz bass response"
After Klipsch latest showing at CES it is clear that Klipsch pro cinema is where the true principles of PWK are being kept and built upon. The new consumer stuff just leaves me baffled.

Eimac Hand Made Tubes

Only the best hand made tubes from Eimac. I believe this is a photo of Eitel but can't find enough images of him early in life to confirm.

RIP Radio Shack - Vintage Ad Featuring Klipschorn

Radio Shack has been a zombie for years and just didn't know they were dead. HAH Zombie Shack... Good riddance on one hand as they forsake what made them great and were reduced to batteries and phones. On the other hand I'm sad to see them go for rare time they have parts I need in stock. The problem is they usually didn't have the parts in stock I needed. I would rather have seen Parts Express take them over.

These ads must have been late 40's or early 50's because PWK put an end to licensing his products early on due to quality issues.

That is one crude Klipschorn ad.... Dang...

My 1st DIY SET AMP 2A3/45 Part 2

It's really alive the hum has been banished. The original Frankenstein is one of my favorite movies. I like it almost as much as Freaks. I don't know if anyone else obsesses over it like me but after he utters the iconic It's Alive a few times he follows it with "now I know what it feels like to be god".  All I'm saying is that Jeffrey, Dave, and Chris may have created a monster....

Thanks again Dave Jeffrey Chris and Joe for the help and encouragement.

Fela Kuti Music Is The Weapon

Fela was my intro into African music like many others. If your not familar with Fela this is a good place to start and if you are familar with Fela this is still a great one to see.
Looks like that movie was removed rather quickly. Here is a clip.

And a few videos.

The Brook High Quality Audio Amplifier - 10C2-A

All triode Brook amplifiers. I still hope to find an original someday. There has to be more than one in Arkansas. The only Brooks I've seen in person are PWK's and they are minty.

My 1st DIY SET AMP 2A3/45 Part 1

It's ALIVE!!!!! Welll.. Sort of....

I've always wanted to build my own tube amp so when I was in New York in May hanging with Jeffrey and Dave they sent me home with a schematic and enough parts to get started on a Stereo 45/2A3 amp. I have been moving toward this project at a glacial pace. I had a bit of help from my friend Chris on layout and the use of his drill press. Metal is so so messy.....
I like the looks even if it isn't perfectly symmetrical. That makes me abit crazy... loll

 So how did it go?
Well after my friend Chris went over my work yesterday he only found one issue with a wrong resistor rating which he happened to have so he dropped them by for me today. I completed my homework and plugged it in and turned it on.
Some hum.... Only one channel working.... Sound is coming out.
But no smoke no burning no smoke 8-)
I wasn't going to post until it was working perfectly but that wouldn't be very honest or fun. We learn the most from mistakes anyway.
Stay tuned for part 2.

EDIT Part 1.34
It turns out parts like LED's have polarity and if one is reversed it does not work. Now I have both channels working and the amp is stable. However it just sounds terrible. Tomorrow I'll dive in to take measurements to see what else I have done wrong and buggered up.
