Klipsch Driver Manifolds Pro Cinema

I stumbled across these old pics the other day and thought some may find them interesting.  Here are a few pics of driver manifolds. I've never come across the occasion to use multiple  K77 or K55.

Nice little prototype.
Scraping the bottom of the barrel today 8-)

Matija Blažičko - Emanation

Check out this wonderful art installation in Croatia featuring tractrix horns and battery powered amps. The artist Matija Blažičko sent some pics to use for Retro Hi Fi Girl Friday but I thought it was too cool for that. Featured in the pics is his sister. Her site here.
From the Artist.
The work Emanation was exhibited in june this year in the chapel of saint Rocco in Zagreb, Croatia.
It was my humble attempt to recreate feeling of big cathedral in small chapel.
There was Benjamin Britten's Festival te deum played, It was all about the experience of hollographic imaging and stereo separation (I got inspired by the Chesky records ultimate demonstration disc)
Main horns follow tractrix curvature and are made of "artificial marble" composite. They hang freely in the air by the kevlar strands. Frequency response extends below 80Hz but are digitally crossed over at 80Hz from where the pair of hidden subwoofers take over. Amps work on battery banks so the problems with "dirty" mains are altogether eliminated.

Check his website for future updates..

I'm sure the artist would love to hear feedback from you.

Retro Hi-Fi Girl Friday

These may be the most retro girls I've posted.
This was a radio installation in a salon in Paris some when around 1920.

Beaty In Sight As In Sound - 1957

It seems this article was born out of the growing pains of stereo. Should I build two houses since stereo requires two of everything..... Yes...

Arkansas Delta BBQ And Blues

The Tubehoarder txt me early this morning to do BBQ breakfast in the Delta. The Jones family has been doing BBQ in Marianna since the early 1900's.

After a few sandwiches at Jones we moved on to Craig's in DeVals Bluff. One of the best hot BBQ sauces ever.
The divider in the roof was to divide between blacks and whites yet it was black owned. Glad those days are gone.
Looks are deceiving 8-)

The Tubehoarder knows all the best spots in the Delta. Off the side of the road is Pie Shop...
There were only a few different kinds of pies left. No chocolate and no fried pies today... Sigh...
Close as I could get to the Pie Shop kitchen.
Next time your in the Delta and you see a road side shack advertising food just stop. In fact the worse the sign and shack the better the food.
Can't post about the Delta without blues.

Rare 3 Aug 1950 K5 Klipsch Horn

This horn went with a Khorn that was used with an organ like the Leslie cabinet. I've only seen one of these before. This is from the collection of Chris Hornbeck.
Don't make fun of the repair it looks better in person.
SAHF was the driver used in the 50's. A dirt dobber nest was built in the throat.
I had to remove the nest and bug screen but it works now.

Here is the crossover used with the horn and khorn. That is a nice big cap.

The coils were wound by PWK. Check out the signature.

1958 Stan White Opus 1

A rare glimpse at the Stan White Opus I.
I dig the mid century modern design.

Can't say I've seen very much documentation or letters from Stan White.

Thank you Jon for sending me this documentation.

Arkansas Cattle Serenade

This cracks me up.
Cows love horns.

What do the French and Arkansans have in common?
They play horns to cows.

Only Klipsch

This image I believe is from the late 60's Stereo Review. If you know the origin please let me know. Klipsch liked it so much they turned it into an advert.

Additional info from Bruce.

The photo originally came from the Feb 1969 issue of Playboy magazine. It was the lead photo in an article titled “The Sights and Sounds of 69”. The article described “the latest and best in Hi-Fi and TV” and had numerous recommendations for differing budgets. The K-horns were in the top of the line system and were quoted as costing $804 each. The Cornwall used for the center channel was said to be sold for $415. Other pieces from this system were a Marantz Model 7T Pre-amp and dual Marantz power amps.
