Electro-Voice Georgian II

The Electro-Voice Georgian II was released in the 1980's at a price around $20k. I was aware of the Patrician II but not the Georgian II. I wonder what else they released in the 80's. Unfortunately the electro-voice archives don't have any info on these.

G.I.P. Laboratory

I haven't posted anything on G.I.P. Laboratory in a long time. This week I have been spending too much time on their site. They have been researching and building in the Western Electric style which is highly commendable. I have no clue what this gear sounds like or how close they are to the original but I can say it is executed to a very high standard.

The GIP-9501 may be the most beautiful tweeter I've ever seen. It is abit blingy but I bet Slagle could help with that.
Such beautiful work very inspiring. Bravo!
I have been planning my Eastern pilgrimage in my head for a while. It would have to include Siblatone @ Seoul, GIP Laboratory @ Yamagata and Sukuma San's Concord Cafe @ Tateyama. This would be the ultimate audio pilgrimage for me.

Koetsu Things Of Beauty

I've been researching proper tonearm and cartridge setup this week as I am going to swap carts. I try not to let my eyes stay on high dollar cartridges too long as I am a music junkie on a budget. This Koetsu cart kept showing up in my electroweb searches. Damn these Koetsu cartridges are beautiful. If I bought one of these and it did not sound as beautiful as it looked I would be heartbroken.

If anyone knows of any other Japanese cartridge porn I should be drooling over please let me know.

Voigt Lowther Corner Horns

Hard enough to find as singles they have a pair. I like the left one better. I've seen many examples of these horns but have yet to hear them. There are home constructor plans out on the electroweb. If I ever catch up on audio projects this would be a good one to tackle.

When I find that time machine I will deliver this  movie to 10yo me.

If you haven't seen Space Is The Place it is a must see.

I often wonder what would have happened if Sun Ra and Moondog had met on the streets of New York

John And Yoko Square

Yoko and John posing with a really square guitar. That is so cool.
“I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?”

Emission Labs Vs NOS ?

The Emission Labs tubes look superb with great build quality. They are priced between $200-$1,000 each. Some of these tubes cost more than NOS. In some instances they make NOS seem affordable. I've heard the EML 45 but no direct comparison with a NOS 45. They are making some interesting triode tubes of their own but also including the classic triodes 300b, 2a3, 45, 50, and even some rectifiers like the 274. If you are unfamiliar with Emission Labs check out their site.

My question for you builders and tube rollers is how do they compare to NOS?

Found Audio Sculptures

I was at one of the few places in Arkansas where I can be guranteed to spot a couple pieces of vintage gear. Not disclosing my secret location. I usually would but there is only one.  The large transmitting tube is sporting a vintage Robin Hood hat being guarded by a vicious rat with a hoard of weapons in the background. Yup that is Arkansas the state that just legalized concealed weapons legal in church not that I'd go but WTF.... Weird but I like this it cracks me up. Sad part is tube not for sale.

This is the Electro-Voice licensed Klipschorn design. It looks great. I wanted to find a higher resolution version of this advert but I could not find one so here is what I could find.
