Oboreta Ebi No Kenshi Houkokusyo or Autopsy Report Of A Drowned Shrimp - Osaka Japan

Music For Maniacs brings us this oddity from Japan called Oboreta Ebi No Kenshi Houkokusyo or  Autopsy Report Of A Drowned Shrimp. I've always been into things different not sure why. This fits in with what I've been listening to this week SnakeFinger, Renaldo And The Loaf, Residents, STUMP, and Mike Dillon Band.
They dress up like giant prawns to perform avant garde funk jazz crazedness. These guys are nuck'n futs. If they ever play SXSW I will be there.
They must have some killer shrooms in Osaka.
 These two shows are interesting.
It makes me happy to know there are bands out there doing what they want and having a blast. I guess they give new meaning to the term shrimping.

1950's Klipschorn Scale Model

Here is an interesting scale model of the Klipschorn recently added to the Klipsch Audio History Museum. Likely made in the early 1950's to gain higher WAF.
This was not a Klipsch design but it was done by a customer.

Voigt Corner Horn Mahogany

There are some items on rotation through the Klipsch Audio History Museum in Hope. It was good to see this early Voigt corner horn back on display. I think this one is early because of the reflector design. The later ones are a little more sophisticated. I really like the cabinet design.

From The Ministry Of Technology UK Mobile Cinema 1967

I was researching British theater systems when I stumbled upon these really cool mobile theater systems. Unfortunately the Ministry Of Technology did not use it to take the latest Hitchcock film on the road but rather to educate the industrial base of the latest industrial production techniques. However one of these has been restored and is being used to show movies that are more interesting. The restoration process and in depth history is at the Vintage Mobile Cinema site at  http://www.vintagemobilecinema.co.uk/

The seating capacity is 22.

NOS 2A3 Stash

When a friend out of the blue starts asking about 2A3 amps I got a little suspicious. Let us call the friend the Tube Hoarder. I was going to call him Collector but he is beyond that at this time. Anyway I was at his place to listen to some tunes when he pulls out this amazing stash of 2A3 NOS tubes in beautiful boxes. I mean the tubes are still in the dam boxes. If they were mine I'm not sure I could open them. Anyway here are some pics of NOS 2A3 tubes in their original boxes unopened..... Sigh..... Wow....

Lijadu Sisters Nigeria 1970's

To say I'm obsessed with African music of the 70's is an understatement. There has been a great influx or reissues over the last 10 years. Recently I learned that Ginger Baker of Cream was obsessed with this music in the 70's as well and even setup a studio in Nigeria's Lagos. I will be going through my psychedelic Nigerian records to see which ones were produced by Ginger Baker. I found this out by researching the Lijadu Sisters. They have a song that has been rattling around in my brain for four years.

The Lijadu Sisters are twins and cousins of Fela Kuti which could explain how Ginger Baker come to record with them. Fortunately the Lijadu Sisters first four albums have been reissued and for the low price of $15 per lp. I'll be ordering these soon.

The song that has been driving me crazy is simple by Nigerian 1970's standards but I really dig it. Here is Life Gone Down Low.

Here are the Lijadu Sisters in rehearsal and conversation.

I get really bored with current music and the classics so music like this is a god send. It is great to know that so much music is out there left to be discovered. When you get bored of the music around you just look to other cultures.

Large Mercury Vapor Tubes In The Movies

I am being stalked by large mercury vapor tubes. I was watching the classic film the Evil Of Frankenstein when I noticed his lab had these familiar tubes. There were pulsing and looking cool in the lab.
I think some of the mercury got loose at some point. Definitely not a safe environment.
There were several shots were the camera perspective made the tubes look very large.
