Electric Tube Powered Cow 1955

Not audio related but also from Popular Electronics 1955. The 50's were a nutty time for electronics and DIY. This cow is tube powered to figure out what makes them happy and what kind of grass they like. I'm going out on a ledge and saying the cow hates having electronics strapped to his back.

If they really wanted to make the cows happy they would let them listen to some Moog music.

Lee Scratch Perry and Guiness

I am a Guinness fan from way back as well as Lee Scratch Perry. Apparently Lee Scratch Perry did a couple commercials for Guinness. This is a compilation of those commercials and crazy outtakes. How I would have loved to have been on this team.

I am here with my brain in my suitcase.

For those not familiar with Lee Scratch Perry. He was the first to scratch on a record. He was also the first to produce Bob Marley among many others. When Chris Blackwell went to Jamaica and signed Marley along with several others Perry was obviously not happy. After Marley died Perry wrote a song called Judgement Ina Babylon calling Chris Blackwell a vampire and perhaps he was correct.

Chris Blackwell is a vampire.

Into his 70's ;) Repentance is an amazing cd. Not my favorite song off the cd but the only one with a video. Perry seems to be having fun.

Lenard Audio Institute

There are aspects to audio science that I just don't comprehend or easily forget. I was researching acoustic horn lens and found this site http://www.lenardaudio.com/education/01_eduintro.html. The Lenard Audio Institute explains concepts very well and simply. If you need a refreshing course in the science behind the wonderful world of sound please check it out.

The visual aids are great!

Avante Garde Music Project

http://www.avantgardeproject.org

Sometimes I just get bored with music and need something different to readjust the ear brain thing. When this happens I grab some Kagel or the sounds of the Italian futurist. A good friend sent me a link to the Avant Garde project a few years ago but I only recently checked it out. If you need something different or have an appreciation of avante garde classical music check it out.

Blurb from the site.
The Avant Garde Project is a series of recordings of 20th-century classical, experimental, and electroacoustic music digitized from LPs whose music has in most cases never been released on CD, and so is effectively inaccessible to the vast majority of music listeners today.

Western Electric 549-W 1921 Papermache Horn

Yet another item from the PWK Museum Of Audio History. I've probably seen this horn dozens of times. However this time it just jumped out at me. This was made in 1921 and is a very early horn predecessor to the great Western Electric horns to come. The fact it still exists is amazing.

Klipsch Museum of Audio History Tour by Jim Hunter

I am so glad Klipsch put together these videos by Mr.Hunter. He has great knowledge of audio history and I always learn something new from his tours. Thank you Jim Hunter. Plenty of non Klipsch items on this tour. This is much better than my quick walk through.

Are you sure you have the best?

Preying on the unstable mind of the audiophile. This is just not right. Are you sure you have the best? No well just spend more money. Evil marketing bastards or as my grandfather would say "a shower of bastards".

Vinyl Junkie Cartoon

My Garrard certainly delivers subliminal messages. Ever since I first fired up the 301 with the Hagtech Bugle I keep buying more and more records. I need more shelves.

Evolution of "The Horn" Edward Ketcham Audio Engineering 1954

Who needs closets? Just fill them full of these cool large speakers. They even made room for a TV. It appears to be a five way. I wouldn't wanna wrestle that crossover. Great vintage article. Thanks Gil.

Fairchild Turntable Tonearm Cartridge System

If I could have a dream mono system it would be a complete Fairchild TT system with a Fairchild 260 amp and 245 preamp. I've never seen Fairchild equipment outside of an audio museum so I base this solely on appearance and reputation..
