RCA MI-12499 Two Way System Fec 1952

Another vintage RCA I can dream about finding. This is a great looking speaker. It could be the start of a good mono system.

Goodman King Of Audio

Goodman King of Audio by artist Hiroshi Araki. This is beautiful. Robot audio :)

JBL Hartsfield

A beautiful creation and the JBL response to the Klipschorn. I'd love to compare the two.

Austin Record Scores

Well the Austin trip was a blast as usual. Saw some great live music and hit a couple record stores. Record shopping was cut short due to credit card being stolen which was a major bummer but a decent haul at least. I managed to hit End Of An Ear and Breakaway but my card was stolen before I hit Antone's Records. I went to a few other stores I won't name but because their prices were just insane.

End Of An Ear

Breakaway Records

Double LP Analog Africa set.

Triple LP Soundway Record set.

Triple LP Soundway Record set.

Double LP Soundway Record set.

Worthy Records reissue. Mulatu is one of my favorite vibe guys.

I picked this up in a thrift store. How could I leave it lol.

This was the bargain of the trip $5 1956 Beat Tropicale.

I also hit a large Arthur Lyman stash. I'll only post one of these but it is a xmas record. I typically hate xmas music and this is only my second xmas record. This is a good one if you are into exotica.

RIP Captain Beefheart aka Don Van Vliet

Last week I bought Trout Mask Reica on 180gm vinyl. It will be spinning it this week. Love the Beefheart and Magic Band.

Retro Hi-Fi Girl Friday

Ah Mamie Van Doren

I'm heading out of town first thing in the morning for some Austin record shopping so here is HiFi Girl a little early. I get emails if I miss a Friday.

PWK's Lab La Scala with Braces

Here is an early La Scala pic with PWK in his lab. Performance was improved with the braces but each one would have to be custom cut to some extent so the idea was dropped. This was later solved with the La Scala II buy going with 1 inch instead of 3/4 baltic birch plywood. I think they still have that couch in the lab listening room lol.

This was the original orientation of the doghouse. I rather like it but also note the braces.

Early Audiophile

Mr. Kei Ikeda has been an enthusiast audiophile since 1919 and his auditorium is a museum devoted to audio.

Look at the two giants horns WE 15 A used in the high bass and low medium range in the main 4 ways system!

The low bass is reproduced by the big woofer you see behind the left shoulder of Mr. Ikeda , another room close to the auditorium is used as a rear load for the woofer . This woofer, IK38 inspired from a RCA duocone loudspeaker, was designed by Kei Ikeda for JVC.

You'll also notice the famous WE 59 A (or WE 540) loudspeaker known as "chinese hat" intended to works with the first Western Electric amplifier, the WE 25A.
Compare the huge mouth of the WE 15A to the smaller WE 6368, half visible behind books and a desk lamp up to the chair in the left part of the view.

Soundway Records Presents Sound Of Siam

I've been hooked on labels like Soundway Records. The music they release is very important and interesting. I own several of their LP releases. Usually I concentrate on the African music but Sound Of Siam is Thai and I like it alot. I get bored with modern music quickly so it is great that these musical archaeologist are bringing us these gems.

Here are a couple youtube samples from Soundway.

Brociner Corner Horn Model 4C

This looks like a design likely licensed from Lowther. I like the mid century modern design. I'd love one of these. It looks like a mini khorn.

John Lennon

I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong.
