Altec 604 Ad

I wonder if they had any clue that the 604 would be in production for so long or live on after the demise of the company. I'd really like to try one of these speakers. Perhaps the mail man will deliver one some day. Is there a preference over the different models? How does the GPA stack up to the originals? If anyone has a 604 taking up too much space just pop it in the mail to me lol.

WKRP Gobble Gobble

Some nice russco or qrk turntables in the control booth. One of the funniest sitcom episodes ever imo. If you don't have time to watch the whole episode at least watch from 15:00.

Audiowood is a very interesting company. They make beautiful wood turntables and misc audio items. The turntables start at $1000 and go up in price. I thought the price would have been higher considering how cool they look.

Check out their other items for sale. The Nixie clock is on my Xmas list.

Man Man

Man Man is one of those bands I was so happy to see live the first time. I'd never heard them or seen them before taking advice from a friend who only said they were like Mystic Knights Tom Waits Cptn Beefheart Gorgol Bordello BillyGoat with some Gypsy freak out for good measure. After a description like that I had to go. The live clips fail to capture the sound and vibrations these guys throw at the audience. When I saw them the first time they were feeding back on the audience who was simply manic. After seeing them a few times it became clear the better the audience the better the show. If you have the chance see Man Man live just do it. Below are various clips from youtube.

Man Man - Engrish Bwudd from the Album Six Demon Bag.

Man Man - Banana Ghost live in Austin.

Man Man - Top Drawer live in Austin.

Man Man in PA and the studio.

This is a great Take Away performance. Man Man Street Circus. So cool.
Man Man - A Day at the Races and a Night at the Opera - A Take Away Show

If you like that check out more here.,4324 and here

I love the look of this gear. She may have trouble playing her records until she plugs in her gear. Anyway great design.

Braun was the only company allowed to sell oem version of the ESL speakers from Quad.

Nice clean design.

Kuba Comet Futuristic Console

This design is so cool. I would flip out if I ever found one of these on my regular thrift store scavenger hunts. The Kuba Komet and similar models.

A little difficult to read due to resolution but very cool and retro. I love this stuff. This week I should receive more 1950's electronic magazines.

My First Real Live Show

You always remember the first live show where you really had a great time. This was around 1987-1988. My good friend Ben Armstrong took me to this show at the DMZ which was a very dirty punk rock dive but so cool. The Squids opened the show and they were a great young punk band out of Ft.Smith, AR. The Flaming Lips headlined and apparently went on to some success lol. The Flaming Lips were clad in crush velvet and opening the show their smoke/fog machine malfunctioned filling the club so you couldn't see anything. I barely remember the show but I remember the energy of the show. This kick started my interest in live music. Thanks Ben.

Experience Music, Inc - Kahn LCR Phono Stage

This is a major piece of tube gear. The build quality and aesthetics are off the chart. This gear is handcrafted made in America and designed with the ears. It is great to see this high level of execution in the American cottage industry. Incredible.

Just a glimpse of tubes.

If this isn't art I don't know what is.

Read more about the design and custom options at the link below. If I were in the market for custom made gear I would contact Experience Music.

Retro Hi-Fi Girl Friday

I forgot it was Friday :) Spent to much time listening to Hank 78's last night.

My dad told me stories about getting to see Hank Williams play out of the trunk of his car once and also like this on the back of a truck. This would have been in west central Texas not the pic but where my dad saw Hank.

Quantum Snake Oil BS

I try to avoid negative posts but this is just insane.

BlackBody by LessLoss Audio Devices

The Blackbody is a high-tech audio accessory which greatly enhances your audio playback experience by addressing the interaction of your audio gear's circuitry with ambient electromagnetic phenomena and modifying this interplay. The Blackbody takes advantage of the quantum nature of particle interaction, and is therefore able to permeate metal, plastic, wood, and other barriers to affect the circuitry inside your components. This altered electromagnetic influence results in profoundly improved sound quality.

The LessLoss Blackbody is not a power filtering device. Rather, it complements your power filtering device by addressing the audible imperfections incurred by your gear's direct interaction with ambient electromagnetic phenomena. Where a power filtering device leaves off, the Blackbody, as a field filtering device, takes over.
