Paragon Garrard 301 and RTR Awesome Vintage Hi-Fi

I came across this killer ad pic while I was researching Garrard tonearms. This dude has one hip swinging bachelor pad.

  1. That console in the background is amazing!

  2. Is that Richard Boone in the picture of the JBL Paragon? He was the actor who played "Paladin" in the TV series. He was one of the original ugly/craggily handsome type actors.

  3. That is Richard Boone, yes.

  4. Is that a pseudo-folding horn, fakin' it? Something about that middle section says "nonfunctional," though it probably holds highballs and vodka martinis okay.

  5. Not mentioned by name, in the original post or in any of the comments thus far: the reel-to-reel deck. It's an Ampex, one of the line descended from the "A" series, introduced in the mid-1950s. The chassis was in production until the ultimate version, the F-44, from 1964. All tubes, of course.
